Full Description
At the Ashoka West End, Glaswegian gourmets can indulge in some of the best Indian food in the city. The Ashoka has been praised by the Good Curry Guide and The British Curry Awards, and it’s easy to see why. Named after an ancient Indian king, whose empire stretched to Persia, Ashoka serves a mixture of reliably good staples from delicious rogan josh to tandoori and jalfrezi dishes, along with more unusual house specials such as lamb budda, with its spicy sauce enriched with red wine. The restaurant is theatrical in style, with large mirrors, vivid red walls and high-backed zebra-print chairs. The main tipple of choice tends to be cobra beer. However Ashoka also has a wine list of 30 plus bottles, and whiskies from more than 90 distilleries.
