Following on from the success for their restaurant in Newtownards, Caffe Carlitos is a welcome addition to Belfast. Here the belief is that the Italian tradition of sharing food, drink and conversation is one of life’s greatest pleasures, and the staff endeavour to make your meal the best it can be.From the helpful and receptive service, to the bright modern restaurant, the stage is set for a perfectly relaxing visit. The menu is varied and the broad range of dishes, based on classic Italian recipes, means that there is a choice to tempt everyone. Stone baked home made pizzas, fresh pasta, and succulent steaks, to devilishly delicious desserts – a real treat for those who adore all things Italian.

" I went here a few weeks ago, after work, with my husband at 6pm on a Wednesday evening. We told the waitress we would be using our hi-life card and had no booking, she said that it was ok as card was valid mon-thu. There were 2 other couples eating so I assumed as it wasn´t busy there were no issues with us not having a booking. The very polite waitress showed us to our seats and took a drinks order and left the menus. She then returned with our drinks and took our order which was two main courses only. All was very polite and helpful. Then a tall, dark haired Italian guy came storming out of the kitchen (I assume he was the manager) and came over to us with our order slip in hand and rudley told us that we could not use our card. I said that I had already asked if we could use it and was told that it was ok. He stood shaking his head loudly saying "No, no you cannot use it, you can order of the early bird menu but cannot use your card" he then explained we needed to book as there was only limited numbers of hi-life allowed! All was done very unprofessionally and left me very angry. I told him to cancel the order and he shrugged and walked away muttering in Italian. When my husband went to the bar to pay for our drinks the waitress that took our order was there very apologetic about the whole situation and quite embarrassed. I have been before to Carlito´s, I used to go quite reguarly as they have a good lunch menu and I would take friends and family often too. Food was always good, not great but good. Staff always very helpful and polite. Atomosphere is great. However this treatment has left a very bad mark on Carlitos in my mind and I wont be returning or advising others to go. Word of advice if you do wish to try Carlitos, BOOK!! "
