Nestling on the fringe of Pendle Hill in the tiny village of Fence, the Fence Gate Inn is a stunning ivy-clad building. Originally a house, it was used as a collection point for cotton delivered by barge along the Leeds - Liverpool canal.Now, however, owner Kevin Berkins has redesigned and refurbished the house into a stylish inn with two versatile banqueting suites and a delightful brasserie where you will assured of a warm welcome and attentive service.

" The food was very good although the restaurant would not honour the agreed offer and would only allow one complimentary starter. The table was dirty and one of the knives had to be sent back as it had dried food on it. Both main courses had to be paid for. The manager argued that they would never give away a main course. They also overcharged on the drinks which we did not realise until we arrived home. "
