Retreat offers great food, great service and a friendly atmosphere.Situated on Chorley New Road, Retreat is conveniently located out of the town centre with easy access to both Junction 5 & 6 of the M61. Rretreat offers a wide and varied menu, from delicate fish to hearty steaks. At very reasonable prices, you’ll be able to enjoy lunch and dinner in the sumptuously relaxing dining rooms. Food is all freshly made on the premises, using only the finest produce.

" lovely place - but food nice but not very plentyful - my steak came with about 10 chips! main issue was the price - beware the service charge - 10% of the non discounted bill is automatically added by way of a service charge - it came to £6.50 (or was when we went) It was my partners birthday treat so didnt want to make a fuss - so just paid it the non discounted bill was £72 for 2x 3 courses including this service charge - and 4 soft drinks - quite and expensive lunch we thought "

" Visited this restaurant a few times now - always over the lunch period. The food is very nice and the surroundings modern and comfortable. This is excellent value for money when using the Hi-Life card. The only thing that lets this restaurant down is the service - on all ocassions the service has been very poor - waitng ages to be seated, for our menus, drinks and food orders. Once ordered the food comes quickly, but then there is a wait for plates to be cleared and deserts/bill. This hasn´t stopped us from returning - each time I hope the service will live up to the food, but not as yet. "

" Just had Christmas meal at Retreat and was disappointed. The starter of Pate was good, main meal of ´Roast Pork´ was cooked on a griddle and very dry along with the sage mash which I couldn´t eat. The chocolate fudge cake was the best out all of the 3 courses. Another member of the party who similarly had ´Roast Pork could taste gammon, others who had the beef commented that it was stingy but overall the fish course seemed the best. Maybe I´ll will give it another try as the decor and service was good and possibly a one off. "

" Yet another good dining experience at "our local" Hi-Life accepting outlet and yet again another ex-BWFC "celebrity" in attendance this time in the style of El Hadji Diouf and a posse of hangers on. Our three course meal was again presented well and tasted nice. Two of the party detected a weird curry-like spice in the beef and ale pie which, for them, detracted slightly from what they were expecting, but they still emptied their plates. My chicken peri peri was deliciously spicy. And my lemon cheesecake to finish was surprisingly nice, given I am no lemon fan but fancied a palate cleanser after the spice of the peri peri. A good choice I made too. Still recommend Retreat to Boltonians and those travelling further afield. "

" Formerly Mai Thai now relaunched as a bar, grill and restaurant. Saw Phil Brown (former Hull City manager and "Big Sam´s" number two at BWFC) at Retreat early Summer 2010. Delicious food, nicely presented, friendly staff and when the weather´s good you can sit outside and watch Chorley New Road go by! Alternatively, the bar area is welcoming too. Worth a visit in my opinion "
