It was on 20th December 1928 with only £150 that Harry Ramsden founded what was to become the world’s most famous fish and chip restaurant in Guiseley, near Leeds. It was a modest beginning in a green and white painted wooden hut 10 feet by 6 feet, which you can still see on the site to this day.In 1931 Harry began to build the world’s largest fish and chip restaurant. It was unique and magnificent with cut glass chandeliers, oak panelling, stained glass windows and wall-to-wall carpets.Today there are Harry Ramsden’s throughout the UK and overseas, combining that special atmosphere, great service and, of course, mouth watering dishes.So why is Harry’s the most famous in the world? I believe it’s because Harry Ramsden’s has been serving up the tastiest fish and chips for over 70 years.
