Full Description
The Blackwell Ox Inn restaurant in Sutton on the Forest near York is a comfortable, relaxing restaurant that takes food very seriously indeed. Chef Steven Holding, inspired by his mentor, the renowned Stephen Bull, roots his vibrantly flavoured French-based cuisine in absolutely top notch quality, utter simplicity and honesty in cooking. All the produce is local and farmers and suppliers are known to Holding by name so only the very best reaches the table. Set in a 200-year-old former house, the bar and dining room are intimate and traditional, with smart, comfortable furnishings, open fires and hand-pulled ales. Just fifteen minutes outside York, the village of Sutton on the Forest is a charming place to explore, as hordes of diners do after indulging in the Sunday lunch menu. The Blackwell Ox Inn is a terrific spot for a small party, launch, family gathering or reception, with a dining room that seats up to 34 and up to 16 can be seated on a single table. There's a patio for summer gatherings, too.
